Sapphire - Secrets of the past

It's no wonder how her life got this confusing.  Staring at the ceiling, Sapphire's mind raced with haunting memories of her past...

 It started when she was just 13 years old.  She remembered the exact moment quite well.  Even the clothing she wore; a black and pink striped bathing suit.  In fact, it was her favorite.  She was in her room. And they both lay on her bed, watching Van Dam.  He gave her whatever she wanted.  She told him everything, and he as well. With everything that was going on in her life, he listened so attentively. He was a member of her family for 4 years.  He entered her life when she was 9, and protected her ever since.  It wasn't until age 15, she finally realized what he did to her was wrong! 

He was 24 years old at the time, and he was someone whom she viewed as her brother.  Never in her entire life would she have expected what was to come.  She remembered talking about boys, and sex and how much all of her friends were or weren't active.  She remembered him sobbing about her sister's infidelity and spoiled ways.  The next thing she remembered, he pulled her on top of him, and held her in a tight embrace.  She started crying too. And then he rolled over, and was on top of her.  He moved the swimsuit to the side after shoving open her legs.  Next, the sudden surge of pain was so unbearable.  He continued to force and with each thrust forward, she moved backwards.  Finally she screamed out in agony before he realized his actions.  She bled as she cried in the shower, which took an eternity.  She didn't want to be alone with him anymore.  She cried for mommy.  He apologized...

Sapphire laughed wickedly. He's sorry? How can you be sorry and continue your evil for two years...

 It didn't stop until it was already too late.  No, she was late!  Sapphire got her period for the first time at 15 years old.  She saw it for approximately 3 months before his evil.  Sapphire never got the pleasure of boasting to her friends about how she lost her virginity, as they all did with each other.  Sapphire never gave herself, it was taken. And years later, he tries to justify his actions by saying he's falling in love, and always have, with her. He wishes she was the "one" he was with, instead of her sister.

 LOVE?  At this point, no love was possible for Sapphire...

 Her scars were already bone deep, and a constant reminder grew each day inside her, as she tried to forget.  It caused such problems for her, especially with relationships, both family and personal.  And the worst of it, her sister knew.  Yet she blamed Sapphire.  She accused her of all types of indiscretions.  How she found out? That's the icing on the cake!  Sapphire sometimes slept with her sister and her boyfriend whenever her mom was working late.  And he would trouble her even as her sister laid there sleeping, on the very same bed! Sapphire even tried telling her mom, whom brushed it off without even a fight.  She just sent her away to her mother's family for the summer. 

Sapphire realized she was all alone in this one.   She even turned to God after she couldn't bring herself to end a life.  But God was unforgiving, and so was everyone, according to Sapphire.  She carried the weight; even now.  She has no loving relationship, or any for that matter, with her sister to this day.  And to make matters worse, he still makes advances at her. 

Sapphire's biggest regret is letting the statute of limitations run out.  But of course, she couldn't do anything.  She didn't know how.  And she blamed herself.  She was only a child, with no one to turn to...

The phone rings loudly, jolting Sapphire out of her disturbing memories. "Hello", she answers. "Mommy, can you come get us?  We got out early today", was the adorable voice on the other end.  Ruby was hoping her mom would give in.  She did.  Sapphire vowed to never allow her daughter's to suffer her pains or experiences.  She would protect her gems at whatever cost.  "I'm on my way", she replied and then she closed the phone.  Sapphire realized that this pain was far from over.  It still haunts her.  And she refused to let it destroy anymore relationships.   Sapphire hated men because of her experience.  She blamed her father for not being present in her life to protect her.  She trusts no one!  And her failed marriage to "A" proves her theory right. 

No matter what, at the end of the day, all that matters is her gems.  All the lovers in the world couldn't convince her that they were genuine.  Her husband waited until they got married to bring another into their bed.  And to top it off, he took her gems over to his lover's house.  She worked two jobs and went to school, trying to build a life for her family.  He wasn't working.  Instead, he had extracurricular activities to tend to.  And now, he punishes her constantly with his existence; begging and pleading.  He even had a two year old, with another "mistake" in which he doesn't take care of.   Another wicked laugh comes out.  Sapphire realizes how full of shit men are.  Now it was her turn to be the one in control.  Many scores to settle and wrongs to right; payback was definitely a bitch with a capitol "B", and that bitch was Sapphire.
